The key to all this is 'AUTHORITY' As I sat here early this morning, the Lord showed me a lot of Scriptures about it..
I want to share with you how important this is.. A lot of the Body of Christ fail to recognise this and suffer a lot because of it.. I have known about and taught this for a long time but an event happened recently that really opened my eyes to the importance of Authority.. especially over those we love.. What started out as a short email has turned into a long one! Here we go: CONCERNING YOUR CHILDREN: A great minister of God lost his son in an accident. I knew the ministry and it had been a part of the foundation in my life for some 20+ years.. I was flattened when I heard the news.. 'how?' 'why?' ~ It REALLY got to me and bothered me greatly.. I went to bed that night with a heavy heart.. I got up early the next morning just before daybreak and was making a cup of tea for Nancy and myself. It was a cloudy sky and the sun was just rising.. As I stood and looked at the beautiful sunrise that was starting, the sun suddenly broke through a gap in the clouds and the rays hit a white cloud in the sky outside my window. The effect was glistening. The cloud literally shone brilliant white, as the rays that escaped the low clouds hit it.. Then.. as it did, the Voice of the Lord spoke to me and said.. "Prayer is good and necessary but it will NOT take the place of authority. I give you authority over all of the ability of the enemy and I expect you to use it" and I understood what it all meant. Jesus gave us authority.. It is up to us to use it.. Let's go back to the garden of Eden and God's original plan.. "God said.. "Let us make man(kind) in our image and likeness and let them have dominion.." Another translation says.. "Let them be masters of all of life.." God gave Adam authority! He was a God class of being.. Jesus even said "It is written in your law.. 'I said ye are gods'.. When the temptation came.. Eve yielded to it and it says.. she gave to the man to eat.. So Adam was standing by whilst all this was going on.. He should have done something! He had the legal right and the dominion/power to act and get rid of that serpent! He should have said.. "It is said by God.. You shall not eat of that tree, now get out of our garden! NOW!" When he failed to do this, the authority given to him, passed to satan who according to 1Cor 2.. says.. became 'the god of this world' When Jesus was tempted by the devil.. satan said.. "If you will bow down and worship me, I will give you all this, for it was given me".. So who gave it to him? ~ Adam did... Jesus is called.. the second Adam.. This one didn't fail and broke satan's rightful hold over mankind.. The Bible says "Jesus has destroyed him that had (past tense) the power of death, that is, the devil" In Luke 10:17, we find a very important event going on.. The disciples returned rejoicing that 'even the devils are subject to us through your name' Jesus then said.. "I beheld satan as lightning fall from Heaven" .. THEN.. He said "Behold (look and take notice!) I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all of the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you" verse 19.. At this point, the Lord Jesus restored the power of authority over demons and devils to those who followed Him.. The first word 'power' means: privilege, force, capacity, delegated influence the right, and authority' ~ The legal right to act as given by the Lord Jesus Christ.. The second word 'power' here, is a different word and means 'ability' It is the same word used when Jesus said.. "you shall receive power (ability) after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you" So in short, Jesus has give us power over all of the ability of the enemy.. But, you say! "Why doesn't God do something!" .. When He created man, He gave him the right, power and legal authority to 'subdue the Earth' This was his commission in Genesis.. Once given, He couldn't take it back. If I give you something, it is yours to do with as you will. It is no longer mine.. Jesus gave us authority.. What we do with it, is up to us.. Let's look at some more Scriptures.. John 14:12.. "Truly I say unto you, He that believes on Me, the works that I do, shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do for I go to My Father.. and whatsoever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified through the Son.. If you shall ask anything in my name. I WILL do it!" The word 'ask' here can be translated 'demand' ~ You do not demand God but you do demand the devil! That's what the disciples found out.. "Lord. even the devils are subject to us, through your name" they said.. The devils were and still are subject to us, through the name of Jesus... This is not talking about prayer.. Jesus deals with prayer and the use of His name later in John 16:23.. "and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you" This is prayer.. asking the Father in Jesus name.. More Scriptures.. Philippians 2: 9-11 "and God has highly exalted our Lord and given Him a name above every name that is named, that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, of things (beings) in heaven and things (beings) on earth and things (beings) under the Earth and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father' The name of Jesus is supreme in all three realms and we as believers and followers of the Lord Jesus have the legal right to use it!! Jesus used the written Word of God to defeat the enemy in the time of temptation. He is our example! We can use the Word of God when the 'liar, the father of lies' tempts us too! Jesus said "It is written... It is written.. and after the third. It is written.." the devil left!! Read Luke 4:1-13.. Jesus didn't lean to His own understanding, Didn't yell at the devil, didn't say you got no rights here... just said.. "It is written".. and the devil leaveth! Sadly, most of us do nothing. When the devil whispers thoughts of 'you are getting sick' or 'your kids will never amount to anything' We just sit there and do nothing. The devil is subtle.. God said so back in Genesis.. The devil doesn't change either! "He was liar from the beginning" Jesus said.. and he still is.. When the devil said to Jesus "If you be the Son of God, turn these stones into bread" Jesus said.. "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but by ever word that proceeds from the mouth of God" The devil was silenced in this matter! God's Word spoken in faith, was the final say on the matter.. The devil tried again.. and again Jesus used the Word of God to stop him.. You see, the devil was trying to get something into the life of Jesus. Jesus Himself said in John14:30.. "Hereafter, I will not talk much with you for the prince of this world (notice what he called the devil?) cometh and has nothing in Me" That was the devil's intention but Jesus overcame the devil with the written Word of God.. we can too! Over 25 years, I have found that not only can you get rid of the devil by using the Word of God and the name of Jesus but you can also stop him before he starts!. It's a lot easier to stop someone getting in the front door than it is to have to throw then out of your lounge room! Prayer lets God into a situation but authority gets rid of the devil! Why didn't Jesus pray when the temptation came? Why didn't He pray when ministering to the sick people? He used the authority as a Son of God.. actually He is called 'Ben Adam" in the Greek, or the son of Adam Let's look at an example in the Bible of a man who "amazed' Jesus! Matt8:5-19
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Jesus said He had not found so great faith!! This Centurion was man who understood what authority was and how to use it. He realised that you have to 'speak' to release this authority.. "I say to this man GO and he goes"! Authority speaks!! This man knew that he had been invested with all the authority Rome had and that when he spoke, he knew what he said would be done! The power of Rome would back him up. He also recognised that One with a greater authority was in front of him.. "Speak the word only and my servant shall be healed.." he said.. It is recorded that Jesus 'marvelled' at this man's faith! To release your authority, you have to say something.. Now lets look at some more Scripture in the same chapter.. Jesus continues to teach His disciples about authority.. Verse23-28
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us, we perish"
26 And He saith unto them, "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Now look both at what Jesus did and what He said to the disciples.. First He 'spoke' to the wind and the seas. That's how you release your authority.. by speaking the Word of God! Then He turned to His disciples and said.. "Why are you so fearful?" (He knew that they were in fear because of what they spoke to Him!) then He said "Where is your faith?" ~ Do you see it? THEY could have done it! They were just there when the centurion said about "I too, am a man set under authority" We too, are sons and daughters of the Most High God, set under authority by the Lord Jesus Christ.. We too, can speak in the name of Jesus and Heaven will back us up! Jesus first rebuked the wind.. (That's a type the spirit behind the storm) Then He spoke to the waves (That's what was trying to sink them!)
The Lord taught me one time saying.. "The wind will try to blow you off course and the waves will try to sink what you are doing" Just like when He said "Let us pass over to the other side" This was the will of God! ~ According the Jesus, the disciples should have used their faith and quelled the storm.. instead, they spoke words of fear.. These are all examples of Authority.. Jesus never prayed.. "Heavenly Father, please stop this storm so I can get to the other side?" Yet sadly that's what a lot of us do when faced with a problem.. STOPPING THE DEVIL FROM GETTING IN. "Thy Word oh Lord is a shield and a fortress" The Word of God is also a shield. That's something you use to STOP something from hitting you! You can wait to get hit if you want and then ask the Lord to heal you.. He said. "I will restore health unto you and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord" Thank God He heals us of our wounds. If you have wounds or hurts (especially in your heart) Then ask the Lord to heal them.. "I have come to heal the broken hearted" Jesus said. In Ephesians Chapter 6, we see Paul outlining what is commonly called 'The armour of God' A part of this armour is called .. "and taking the shield of faith, that is able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one" That what the disciples should have used when all the fiery darts started to come at them in the boat.. "You are going to drown" ~ "you're not going to make it" ~ "Blame Jesus! it's His fault that you in this mess, Look!your boats sinking" ~ Think that's not what went through their minds.. Look at what they said to Jesus when they woke Him up! "Don't you care that we are perishing!" they said. Doubtless, that's how you feel too when things are happening.. "Where are you Lord? Don't you care?" Thank God He does care and has given us authority to stop the evil one from destroying us and our family's lives. In the natural, a Mother or Father would stand in front of their kids if they where in danger and protect them.. so it is in the spirit. The head of the house.. be it male, or if he has left, or not saved, the female still has a right as parents over their kids, regardless of their age. They are and always will be your kids. Yes, they have their own will now and are responsible for their actions BUT you are still their parents and as such, have authority for them..I was getting upset about behaviour shown by my son one day, when the Lord spoke to me and said "son, you wrestle NOT against flesh and blood" My son was not the problem. The evil influence effecting him was.. As a great man of God, Gary Fisher once told me.. "Love the person, go after the devil!" Good advice.. Another part of the armour of God in Ephesians is called 'the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God' ~ The Shield of Faith will quench the fiery darts of the evil one but the Sword is for attack! The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.. It is written.. It is written.. "Speak the Word only and my servant shall be healed" There is a time to pray and a time to say.. Prayer verses authority: Prayer is asking the Father for something in Jesus name.. (John16:23)
ie: "Father in the name of Jesus, I ask you for.." Authority is telling the devil to do something! (John14:12 and Luke10:19)
ie: "Devil, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, get your hands of my daughter! I love her and you have no rights in her life for it is written.. 'Your children shall be blessing, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed.. It is written.." Here's an example I use.. Let's say you are a keen gardener. You have spent a lot of time making a beautiful garden.. One day, you come out and find a stray dog in your garden digging it up! There is mess everywhere!.. Now what are you going to do? Are you going to stop and pray.. "Dear Lord. please do something about this dog! It's destroying my beautiful garden!" or Are you going to use your authority, grab a broom and drive it out of your garden! "Get out of my garden!" you shout with the broom swinging! Get the point! ~ Jesus has already given us authority and He expects us to use it!
We tend to spend time in prayer (and that's good!) instead of driving that which troubles us, out of our lives. This is what I do for my kids..
Jesus actually spoke to me and said.. "Don't stop using your authority for your children son" a few weeks ago.. You can get a bit weary after a while.. Your flesh wants something new.. it tends to get bored if you let it, so He encouraged me.. Everyday is new day in the Lord.. This is important to understand. We see days and weeks as just an ongoing continuation of our lives but to God, every day is a new day. Thank God, we can start afresh! "His mercies are new every morning" (not week!) "This is the day that the Lord has made" "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" Every day is a new day in the Lord, we can let go of all yesterday's baggage and 'rejoice and be glad in it' So everyday, I put up the shield of faith.. How? The same way Jesus did. I don't want the 'prince of this world' (dethroned and defeated as he is) from getting anything in me or my kids.. No, my kids are not perfect but my faith in the Word of God and using the authority Jesus gave me, is keeping them and changing them. The influence of the evil one is getting weaker and weaker every day and the Holy Spirit's voice is getting stronger and stronger.. This is what I do.. I say it out load, for that is how faith is released.. "Devil, you have no rights over me or my children, for it is written "I will contend with that which contends with thee and I will give your children safety and ease them" (the spoken Word of God is your authority for doing this) The Scripture says "Jesus spoke as one having authority, not as the Scribes or Pharisee's" "You have no rights over their lives devil, for it is written "Your children shall be blessings, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed" I break your hold over their lives, for it is written "all your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children" The Bible says that "Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word shall be established" So I have now established those words over the lives of my children.. In your case..
Firstly: You must get the Word of God into your heart, for that is where faith comes from.. It is where the 'Written Word of God' (the Logos) becomes the 'Spoken Word of God' (The Rhema) It's when 'the penny drops' or 'I see it!' or "I see the light!" or the 'I know that I know' happens! That's how salvation comes.. "If you shall confess (say) with your mouth and believe (have faith) in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you shall be saved.. for with the heart man believes (has faith) and with the mouth confession (saying) is made unto salvation.." "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word (or Rhema, spoken Word) of God" Romans 10:17 ~ That's the ONLY way it comes.. You take the Written Word of God (The Scriptures) and meditate upon them until they go into your heart and becomes the Spoken Word of God that comes out of your mouth.. Your mouth WILL speak what's in your heart, whether you like it or not.. for Jesus said, "..for from the abundance (overflow) of your heart, the mouth speaks" That's what God told Joshua to do.. Jos1:8 ~ "..meditate upon My Word night and day, so you will do what it written therein.. then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success" ~ Proverbs 4:24 says the same thing.. God encourages us to 'attend to the Word of God, keep it in your heart, let it not depart from your eyes.. for it is life to those who find (grasp) it and health to all your flesh" Take the Word of God concerning your children and mediate upon them.. 'night and day' Write the Scriptures down, stick them on your fridge.. anywhere! God told the Israelites to carve them upon their door posts! Seeing as you are Spirit filled, it will be a LOT easier. Because the Holy Spirit came to both to 'help us' and 'teach us' John 14-16. He is also called "The Water of Life' When you add Him to the Word of God or the 'Bread of Life' as Jesus said.. you will have all you need for any situation.. Living bread and living water = 'LIFE!' I did this concerning healing for 3 days.. I wrote the Scriptures down on bits of card and put them in my pocket. I took them out at work and would read them over and over. Then I would also spend time praying in the Holy Spirit and worshipping God.. Around the 3rd day, something started to happen.. The Word of God that was in my mind, started to 'spring forth in my heart!' That's what Mark Chapter 4 is all about.. 'The sower sows the Word'.. Jesus said if you understand this parable, you will understand all of them! Faith had come, revelation knowledge flowed and 'I knew that I knew' that I was healed! God had spoken! and no man (or devil) could take it away from me. It's the revelation knowledge Jesus spoke of to Peter, when He asked them.. "Who do men say that I am?" Peter replied. "You are the Christ, the Son of God" There was nothing great about the statement, for they had just said the same thing 2 chapters earlier, when they saw Him walking on the water.. The difference was not the statement but WHERE the statement came from. The first time, it came from what they saw with their physical eyes.. a man walking on water! He must be the Son of God! The next time, it came from Peters heart! Jesus said something about this.. "Blessed (fortunate and greatly to be envied) are you Simon, son of Jonah (a reed tossed in the wind.. that's what his name meant) for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in Heaven.. and I say unto you, that you are Peter (Petros, a rock) and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.. What Peter received, would change his life from a 'reed, tossed in the wind' to 'a rock'.. and it DID! Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against this revealed, or revelation knowledge! That's how you know that Jesus is your Lord. Who told you? The Holy Spirit did, that's Who! and neither man, nor any devil can tell you otherwise.. Flesh and blood didn't tell you and flesh and blood can't take it away from you!!!! So take the Word of God concerning your children and mediate upon it, pray in the Holy Spirit and praise God.. Within a few days, you will find the 'incorruptible seed of the Word of God" will spring up in you and you will start to speak the Word of God with authority, just like Jesus did when He walked the earth and things around you will start to change.. IT may take a while now.. The ways of the world have influenced your children and it will take some fight to get it broken over their lives.. BUT The Word of God says.. "Is not My Word like a hammer, says the Lord that breaks the rock in pieces" Jeremiah.. You will have to pick up 'the hammer of God' and start to break the 'rocks' in the lives of your children.. When you first hit a natural rock with a hammer, it doesn't usually break first time. In fact, you may hit it time and time again and see no difference BUT on the inside, it is starting to fracture! Until one time, you hit it and it breaks into little pieces.. NOW:
After you have got the Word of God into your spirit and started to use your authority on a daily basis for your children. (There is no limit to this..) You can stand for an hour or two if you want, just 'hitting' the thing with the Word of God (the Sword of the Spirit) that has entrance into their lives. The Syrophencian woman in the Bible, wouldn't stop or give up, until Jesus had delivered her daughter! Now spend time in the Spirit for your children.. Start in the natural and allow the Holy Spirit to take over. You can start.. "Heavenly Father, I come into your presence with praise in my heart and thanksgiving on my lips. I thankyou for my children and the authority we have in Christ. I pray Lord that they would stand in your complete and perfect will for their lives. I ask you to help them grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and Jesus our lord. I thankyou.. and so on... Just yield to the Holy Spirit as you pray and you will find your language change from the English language to your Heavenly language... KEEP GOING until the joy comes! This is VERY important! The Bible says, "The kingdom of God is not in meat and drink but in Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost" ~ Sometimes it will come in a few minutes, other times a few hours. Just keep going until the joy comes and the praise starts.. You WILL know when the work is done and He WILL teach you. You are not alone!! I asked the Lord about why tongues once. He said.. "You start to pray according to unctions or desires in your heart (English) Then the Holy Spirit takes over and perfects those prayers in His language and brings them into My presence where I can answer them according to My perfect will" "We wrestle not against flesh and blood" Paul said "but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against wicked spirits in the heavenlies" .. Natural prayer is limited against spiritual beings. "Dear Lord. do something" won't work here.. We don't what to pray for as we aught (Read Romans8 verse 26) But there is One Who came to help us, Who does know what's going on behind the scenes!! Thank God.. I realise this is long but I just started to type and 4 hours later, here it is.. This HAS to be the Lord. I can't even type!! Scriptures: Here's God's perfect will for your kids. "Your children shall be blessings, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed" "all your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children" "I will contend with that which contends with thee and I will give your children safety and ease them" Search the Scriptures for more of them and get them into your heart... it doesn't matter what translation you use, it only matters what gets into your heart.. I suggest you read this over and over, until you start to understand all that is said.. "The Lord give you understanding in all things" You can get others to join with you if you wish. One can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight" the Scripture says.. Spend a LOT of time speaking in tongues! I mean a LOT! Philippians 2: 9-11 "and God has highly exalted our Lord and given Him a name above every name that is named, that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, of things (beings) in heaven and things (beings) on earth and things (beings) under the Earth and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father' The name of Jesus is supreme in all three realms and we as believers and followers of the Lord Jesus have the legal right to use it!! Jesus used the written Word of God to defeat the enemy in the time of temptation. He is our example! We can use the Word of God when the 'liar, the father of lies' tempts us too! Jesus said "It is written... It is written.. and after the third. It is written.." the devil left!! Read Luke 4:1-13.. Jesus didn't lean to His own understanding, Didn't yell at the devil, didn't say you got no rights here... just said.. "It is written".. and the devil leaveth! Sadly, most of us do nothing. When the devil whispers thoughts of 'you are getting sick' or 'your kids will never amount to anything' We just sit there and do nothing. The devil is subtle.. God said so back in Genesis.. The devil doesn't change either! "He was liar from the beginning" Jesus said.. and he still is.. When the devil said to Jesus "If you be the Son of God, turn these stones into bread" Jesus said.. "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but by ever word that proceeds from the mouth of God" The devil was silenced in this matter! God's Word spoken in faith, was the final say on the matter.. The devil tried again.. and again Jesus used the Word of God to stop him.. You see, the devil was trying to get something into the life of Jesus. Jesus Himself said in John14:30.. "Hereafter, I will not talk much with you for the prince of this world (notice what he called the devil?) cometh and has nothing in Me" That was the devil's intention but Jesus overcame the devil with the written Word of God.. we can too! Over 25 years, I have found that not only can you get rid of the devil by using the Word of God and the name of Jesus but you can also stop him before he starts!. It's a lot easier to stop someone getting in the front door than it is to have to throw then out of your lounge room! Prayer lets God into a situation but authority gets rid of the devil! Why didn't Jesus pray when the temptation came? Why didn't He pray when ministering to the sick people? He used the authority as a Son of God.. actually He is called 'Ben Adam" in the Greek, or the son of Adam Let's look at an example in the Bible of a man who "amazed' Jesus! Matt8:5-19
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Jesus said He had not found so great faith!! This Centurion was man who understood what authority was and how to use it. He realised that you have to 'speak' to release this authority.. "I say to this man GO and he goes"! Authority speaks!! This man knew that he had been invested with all the authority Rome had and that when he spoke, he knew what he said would be done! The power of Rome would back him up. He also recognised that One with a greater authority was in front of him.. "Speak the word only and my servant shall be healed.." he said.. It is recorded that Jesus 'marvelled' at this man's faith! To release your authority, you have to say something.. Now lets look at some more Scripture in the same chapter.. Jesus continues to teach His disciples about authority.. Verse23-28
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us, we perish"
26 And He saith unto them, "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Now look both at what Jesus did and what He said to the disciples.. First He 'spoke' to the wind and the seas. That's how you release your authority.. by speaking the Word of God! Then He turned to His disciples and said.. "Why are you so fearful?" (He knew that they were in fear because of what they spoke to Him!) then He said "Where is your faith?" ~ Do you see it? THEY could have done it! They were just there when the centurion said about "I too, am a man set under authority" We too, are sons and daughters of the Most High God, set under authority by the Lord Jesus Christ.. We too, can speak in the name of Jesus and Heaven will back us up! Jesus first rebuked the wind.. (That's a type the spirit behind the storm) Then He spoke to the waves (That's what was trying to sink them!)
The Lord taught me one time saying.. "The wind will try to blow you off course and the waves will try to sink what you are doing" Just like when He said "Let us pass over to the other side" This was the will of God! ~ According the Jesus, the disciples should have used their faith and quelled the storm.. instead, they spoke words of fear.. These are all examples of Authority.. Jesus never prayed.. "Heavenly Father, please stop this storm so I can get to the other side?" Yet sadly that's what a lot of us do when faced with a problem.. STOPPING THE DEVIL FROM GETTING IN. "Thy Word oh Lord is a shield and a fortress" The Word of God is also a shield. That's something you use to STOP something from hitting you! You can wait to get hit if you want and then ask the Lord to heal you.. He said. "I will restore health unto you and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord" Thank God He heals us of our wounds. If you have wounds or hurts (especially in your heart) Then ask the Lord to heal them.. "I have come to heal the broken hearted" Jesus said. In Ephesians Chapter 6, we see Paul outlining what is commonly called 'The armour of God' A part of this armour is called .. "and taking the shield of faith, that is able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one" That what the disciples should have used when all the fiery darts started to come at them in the boat.. "You are going to drown" ~ "you're not going to make it" ~ "Blame Jesus! it's His fault that you in this mess, Look!your boats sinking" ~ Think that's not what went through their minds.. Look at what they said to Jesus when they woke Him up! "Don't you care that we are perishing!" they said. Doubtless, that's how you feel too when things are happening.. "Where are you Lord? Don't you care?" Thank God He does care and has given us authority to stop the evil one from destroying us and our family's lives. In the natural, a Mother or Father would stand in front of their kids if they where in danger and protect them.. so it is in the spirit. The head of the house.. be it male, or if he has left, or not saved, the female still has a right as parents over their kids, regardless of their age. They are and always will be your kids. Yes, they have their own will now and are responsible for their actions BUT you are still their parents and as such, have authority for them..I was getting upset about behaviour shown by my son one day, when the Lord spoke to me and said "son, you wrestle NOT against flesh and blood" My son was not the problem. The evil influence effecting him was.. As a great man of God, Gary Fisher once told me.. "Love the person, go after the devil!" Good advice.. Another part of the armour of God in Ephesians is called 'the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God' ~ The Shield of Faith will quench the fiery darts of the evil one but the Sword is for attack! The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.. It is written.. It is written.. "Speak the Word only and my servant shall be healed" There is a time to pray and a time to say.. Prayer verses authority: Prayer is asking the Father for something in Jesus name.. (John16:23)
ie: "Father in the name of Jesus, I ask you for.." Authority is telling the devil to do something! (John14:12 and Luke10:19)
ie: "Devil, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, get your hands of my daughter! I love her and you have no rights in her life for it is written.. 'Your children shall be blessing, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed.. It is written.." Here's an example I use.. Let's say you are a keen gardener. You have spent a lot of time making a beautiful garden.. One day, you come out and find a stray dog in your garden digging it up! There is mess everywhere!.. Now what are you going to do? Are you going to stop and pray.. "Dear Lord. please do something about this dog! It's destroying my beautiful garden!" or Are you going to use your authority, grab a broom and drive it out of your garden! "Get out of my garden!" you shout with the broom swinging! Get the point! ~ Jesus has already given us authority and He expects us to use it!
We tend to spend time in prayer (and that's good!) instead of driving that which troubles us, out of our lives. This is what I do for my kids..
Jesus actually spoke to me and said.. "Don't stop using your authority for your children son" a few weeks ago.. You can get a bit weary after a while.. Your flesh wants something new.. it tends to get bored if you let it, so He encouraged me.. Everyday is new day in the Lord.. This is important to understand. We see days and weeks as just an ongoing continuation of our lives but to God, every day is a new day. Thank God, we can start afresh! "His mercies are new every morning" (not week!) "This is the day that the Lord has made" "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" Every day is a new day in the Lord, we can let go of all yesterday's baggage and 'rejoice and be glad in it' So everyday, I put up the shield of faith.. How? The same way Jesus did. I don't want the 'prince of this world' (dethroned and defeated as he is) from getting anything in me or my kids.. No, my kids are not perfect but my faith in the Word of God and using the authority Jesus gave me, is keeping them and changing them. The influence of the evil one is getting weaker and weaker every day and the Holy Spirit's voice is getting stronger and stronger.. This is what I do.. I say it out load, for that is how faith is released.. "Devil, you have no rights over me or my children, for it is written "I will contend with that which contends with thee and I will give your children safety and ease them" (the spoken Word of God is your authority for doing this) The Scripture says "Jesus spoke as one having authority, not as the Scribes or Pharisee's" "You have no rights over their lives devil, for it is written "Your children shall be blessings, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed" I break your hold over their lives, for it is written "all your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children" The Bible says that "Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word shall be established" So I have now established those words over the lives of my children.. In your case..
Firstly: You must get the Word of God into your heart, for that is where faith comes from.. It is where the 'Written Word of God' (the Logos) becomes the 'Spoken Word of God' (The Rhema) It's when 'the penny drops' or 'I see it!' or "I see the light!" or the 'I know that I know' happens! That's how salvation comes.. "If you shall confess (say) with your mouth and believe (have faith) in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you shall be saved.. for with the heart man believes (has faith) and with the mouth confession (saying) is made unto salvation.." "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word (or Rhema, spoken Word) of God" Romans 10:17 ~ That's the ONLY way it comes.. You take the Written Word of God (The Scriptures) and meditate upon them until they go into your heart and becomes the Spoken Word of God that comes out of your mouth.. Your mouth WILL speak what's in your heart, whether you like it or not.. for Jesus said, "..for from the abundance (overflow) of your heart, the mouth speaks" That's what God told Joshua to do.. Jos1:8 ~ "..meditate upon My Word night and day, so you will do what it written therein.. then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success" ~ Proverbs 4:24 says the same thing.. God encourages us to 'attend to the Word of God, keep it in your heart, let it not depart from your eyes.. for it is life to those who find (grasp) it and health to all your flesh" Take the Word of God concerning your children and mediate upon them.. 'night and day' Write the Scriptures down, stick them on your fridge.. anywhere! God told the Israelites to carve them upon their door posts! Seeing as you are Spirit filled, it will be a LOT easier. Because the Holy Spirit came to both to 'help us' and 'teach us' John 14-16. He is also called "The Water of Life' When you add Him to the Word of God or the 'Bread of Life' as Jesus said.. you will have all you need for any situation.. Living bread and living water = 'LIFE!' I did this concerning healing for 3 days.. I wrote the Scriptures down on bits of card and put them in my pocket. I took them out at work and would read them over and over. Then I would also spend time praying in the Holy Spirit and worshipping God.. Around the 3rd day, something started to happen.. The Word of God that was in my mind, started to 'spring forth in my heart!' That's what Mark Chapter 4 is all about.. 'The sower sows the Word'.. Jesus said if you understand this parable, you will understand all of them! Faith had come, revelation knowledge flowed and 'I knew that I knew' that I was healed! God had spoken! and no man (or devil) could take it away from me. It's the revelation knowledge Jesus spoke of to Peter, when He asked them.. "Who do men say that I am?" Peter replied. "You are the Christ, the Son of God" There was nothing great about the statement, for they had just said the same thing 2 chapters earlier, when they saw Him walking on the water.. The difference was not the statement but WHERE the statement came from. The first time, it came from what they saw with their physical eyes.. a man walking on water! He must be the Son of God! The next time, it came from Peters heart! Jesus said something about this.. "Blessed (fortunate and greatly to be envied) are you Simon, son of Jonah (a reed tossed in the wind.. that's what his name meant) for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in Heaven.. and I say unto you, that you are Peter (Petros, a rock) and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.. What Peter received, would change his life from a 'reed, tossed in the wind' to 'a rock'.. and it DID! Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against this revealed, or revelation knowledge! That's how you know that Jesus is your Lord. Who told you? The Holy Spirit did, that's Who! and neither man, nor any devil can tell you otherwise.. Flesh and blood didn't tell you and flesh and blood can't take it away from you!!!! So take the Word of God concerning your children and mediate upon it, pray in the Holy Spirit and praise God.. Within a few days, you will find the 'incorruptible seed of the Word of God" will spring up in you and you will start to speak the Word of God with authority, just like Jesus did when He walked the earth and things around you will start to change.. IT may take a while now.. The ways of the world have influenced your children and it will take some fight to get it broken over their lives.. BUT The Word of God says.. "Is not My Word like a hammer, says the Lord that breaks the rock in pieces" Jeremiah.. You will have to pick up 'the hammer of God' and start to break the 'rocks' in the lives of your children.. When you first hit a natural rock with a hammer, it doesn't usually break first time. In fact, you may hit it time and time again and see no difference BUT on the inside, it is starting to fracture! Until one time, you hit it and it breaks into little pieces.. NOW:
After you have got the Word of God into your spirit and started to use your authority on a daily basis for your children. (There is no limit to this..) You can stand for an hour or two if you want, just 'hitting' the thing with the Word of God (the Sword of the Spirit) that has entrance into their lives. The Syrophencian woman in the Bible, wouldn't stop or give up, until Jesus had delivered her daughter! Now spend time in the Spirit for your children.. Start in the natural and allow the Holy Spirit to take over. You can start.. "Heavenly Father, I come into your presence with praise in my heart and thanksgiving on my lips. I thankyou for my children and the authority we have in Christ. I pray Lord that they would stand in your complete and perfect will for their lives. I ask you to help them grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and Jesus our lord. I thankyou.. and so on... Just yield to the Holy Spirit as you pray and you will find your language change from the English language to your Heavenly language... KEEP GOING until the joy comes! This is VERY important! The Bible says, "The kingdom of God is not in meat and drink but in Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost" ~ Sometimes it will come in a few minutes, other times a few hours. Just keep going until the joy comes and the praise starts.. You WILL know when the work is done and He WILL teach you. You are not alone!! I asked the Lord about why tongues once. He said.. "You start to pray according to unctions or desires in your heart (English) Then the Holy Spirit takes over and perfects those prayers in His language and brings them into My presence where I can answer them according to My perfect will" "We wrestle not against flesh and blood" Paul said "but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against wicked spirits in the heavenlies" .. Natural prayer is limited against spiritual beings. "Dear Lord. do something" won't work here.. We don't what to pray for as we aught (Read Romans8 verse 26) But there is One Who came to help us, Who does know what's going on behind the scenes!! Thank God.. I realise this is long but I just started to type and 4 hours later, here it is.. This HAS to be the Lord. I can't even type!! Scriptures: Here's God's perfect will for your kids. "Your children shall be blessings, a fruit of the womb, a reward and blessed" "all your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children" "I will contend with that which contends with thee and I will give your children safety and ease them" Search the Scriptures for more of them and get them into your heart... it doesn't matter what translation you use, it only matters what gets into your heart.. I suggest you read this over and over, until you start to understand all that is said.. "The Lord give you understanding in all things" You can get others to join with you if you wish. One can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight" the Scripture says.. Spend a LOT of time speaking in tongues! I mean a LOT!
