How to KNOW if you have faith?
Faith is one of the most important subjects in the Bible.. Why?
"Without faith, it is impossible to please God"
"By grace are you saved by faith.. and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God"
Hebrews 11 deals with and explains many aspects of faith and what it is. As I often say, faith is not what you believe.. it is acting upon what you believe" Faith is an act.. Faith ONLY comes one way.. "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" ~ God's Word in our hearts produces faith.. Jesus said "Man shall not live (draw strength) from bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God" What bread is to the body, the Word of God is to your spirit..
God told Joshua to meditate upon His Word night and day... Why? "so then you will make your way prosperous, then you will have good success" Nothing has changed..
"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" Yet many hear the Word but seem to have little or no faith.. Why is this and how do we overcome it? When it says 'faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" the word "Word" is 'Rhema' which means the 'spoken word' as opposed to the logos, or the 'written Word' The Bible is the 'Logos'of God.. and God takes that 'logos' and breathes life into it in our hearts and it becomes the "Rhema'.. Faith is produced in our hearts when the "logos" or written Word becomes the 'rhema' or spoken Word to our hearts..
The things of God are revealed to the heart of man by the Holy Spirit.
As the Word' becomes 'alive' in you, it will produce faith in your heart.
How do you know when you have faith? This is a good question and Jesus tells us when.. He said "If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you should say to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea and it shall obey you" Now notice.. "If you have faith.. you should say.." Jesus said, If you have faith, you should say" So what you say, is your faith speaking. Jesus said "from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" Your mouth will speak what is in your heart.. Like it or not.. it WILL speak!
So how do I change what I say John? Easy! Just feed off the Word of God. Meditate upon an area, say healing for example.. Go over and over the healing scriptures (or what the Word of God has to say about healing) until 'faith comes' (by hearing and hearing by the Word of God)
You will know when faith comes by what you say.. Your words will automatically change, as the abundance in your heart (the Word of God about healing) comes out of your mouth.. "So is the kingdom of God as if a man should cast seed into the ground.." Jesus likened the Kingdom of God as a man that sowed seed into the ground. The 'seed' here is the Word of God. (Read Mark chapter 4) If you will 'plant' it by meditating upon it, as God told Joshua to do, then it WILL start to grow up inside you and produce fruit. Your 'heart' or 'inner man, or hidden man of the heart' as the Bible calls him, is the place where the things of God grow and are 'revealed' to you. God came and fellowshipped with Adam and Eve 'in the garden' Now He comes to the garden of your heart' where He grows and reveals the things of God to you. "The kingdom of God is within you" Jesus said.
The first piece of 'revealed' knowledge we ever received from Him, was about Jesus as your Lord and saviour..
The more 'knowledge' you have about Jesus and Who He is, will determine how much blessing you receive from God.
You 'know' Him as Jesus the saviour.. but what about 'Jesus the Healer' or 'Jesus the Provider'? In the Gospels, people discovered Him as the 'healer' and received from His grace.
"How long does this take John?.. Well it depends but within 3 days, I had a strong knowledge about 'Jesus the Healer' I wrote down the healing scriptures on small cards and carried them around with me. I pulled them out and read them over and over during the 3 days (sowing seed into my heart) I spent time with the Lord in prayer and praise and a lot of time in the Spirit (speaking in tongues) By the end of the third day, the power of God was so strong upon me, as was the revelation of God within me!
God has no favourites. If He ever did anything for one person, He will do it for all. I also noticed that my speech changed because the Word of God had changed what I believed in my heart.. The entrance of God's Word had brought light to my heart. "The entrance of Thy Word Lord giveth light.." It drove away the darkness of sickness and disease and replaced it with the light (the Truth) of God's Word.
You will know when faith has come.. as your speech will change. You will not talk fear and doubt anymore. Questions will be replaced by answers.. 'Will Jesus heal me?' will be replaced with "By Jesus stripes I am healed" If you will allow it and plant seed, the Word of God will drive out doubt and unbelief and replace it with faith in your heart
