The Light of God..
"The entrance of Thy Word gives light, it gives understanding to the simple"
"Thy Word Oh Lord is a light unto my feet and a lamp unto my path"
Jesus said "I am the light of the world"
The more 'light' (illumination) of Jesus you have, the more victory you will have in life..
One of the major problems in the Church today is a lack of light in the believers life.. We all have the light of Jesus as Lord and saviour but a lot of the Body of Christ
don't have the light of Him as their healer, or their provider.. Why is this?
Because the things of God do not come by reasoning's, discussions or theology but by revelation of the Spirit of God.
The things of God are revealed to the heart of man by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said "No man knows the Father but the Son and to whomsoever the Son will reveal him"
How do you know that Jesus is your Lord? Who told you? The Holy Spirit is the One Who revealed this truth to our hearts and the revelation of that truth changed our lives..
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
Mark Chapter 4.. Jesus said this is VERY important..
The sower sows the Word
This is how the Kingdom of God operates.. "so is the Kingdom of God as if a man should cast seed into the ground"
Jesus said "if you do not understand this parable, how will you understand all parables?" The Kingdom of God is a mystery that is revealed to our hearts..
and the Holy Spirit is One Who does this..
Read Mark Chapter 4 say 10 times in row (I wonder how many will be 'doers of the word' and do this?) Jesus goes on the describe the 'good soil'
"and these are they which are sown on good ground, such as hear the Word, and receive it and bring forth fruit..." Jesus continues by saying..
"Is a candle brought to be put under a bush? or under the bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? For there is nothing hid that shall not be made manifest, neither was
anything kept secret but that it should come abroad" So Jesus is saying that the Word of God is like a candle, that when lit, starts to illuminate things around us..
This candle however illuminates things inside us! The sower sows the Word.. As you 'plant' the seed of the Word of God (by hearing it) and then watering it (putting it into
practice) the seed will take root and start to grow and bring for the fruit in our lives.. The Word inside us starts to illuminate us with the knowledge of God. The light
not only shows us the way, it also shows up obstacles (stuff in our lives that have come from the worlds ways)
Jesus said "He that follows me shall have the light of life" This is not a salvation scripture. You get saved by repenting of your sin, believing that God raised
Jesus from the dead and accepting Christ as Lord and saviour.. A better translation of this scripture says "He that practices what I preach,
shall have entrance into the God kind of Life.. (That's the 'here and now' bit) As you 'hear' the Word of God and start to be a 'doer of the word' as James says and start
to put into practice what Jesus says, the Holy Spirit lights the candle of your heart and you start to 'see' the light of this 'life' (The word is 'Zoe' or the 'God kind of life') This God kind of life is available to every believer.. now!
The things of God are not hidden from us, but for us!
The apostle Peter was a major instrument in getting this to us.
Jesus and the disciples were walking along one day when Jesus turned to them and said "Who do men say that I am?" They said "some say your are Elijah, some say John the Baptist"
Jesus said "but who do YOU say that I am?" Peter said "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!"
Now in itself, this was no great statement. If you back up a couple of chapters, you will find they said the same thing when they say Him walking on the water.
Jesus never said anything about it then but this time it was different. Jesus said to Peter "Blessed are you Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to
you but My Father in Heaven" The first time they said it was because of what they saw with their natural eyes, this time however, it was what Peter saw with his 'inner' eyes!
He got 'revelation knowledge' from God the Father about Who this person standing in front of him REALLY was!!
Jesus then went on to say, "Upon this rock (the revealed knowledge of me and my way) I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" Peter wasn't
the rock, the revealed knowledge of God to his heart, was the rock) The light of God had shined in his heart and illuminated him to the truth..
Later on in 2Peter, he goes on to describe and awesome experience he had with the Lord and the power of His Word in our lives.
"For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased'
And this voice which came from Heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount"
Peter says that as awesome as this experience was, we have a 'more sure word' that even hearing the audible voice of God! That is, the Word of God. He then begins to speak about it.
I believe this. When Peter was in the boat, the effect of seeing Jesus walking on the water was so profound, that he began to think about what he saw and who this guy was..
How do I know that? Because of what Jesus said in Mark chapter 4 about how the Kingdom of God operates. I believe Peter stated to think and meditate about what he has seen
(and that stated to sow the word in his heart) This continued for a couple of weeks until Jesus perceived that something was brewing in Peters heart and asked the question..
The day of revelation about Who Jesus was had dawned in Peters heart. The world has many sayings about this, such as 'Oh, the penny's dropped' or even 'Oh, I see the light!'
Peter then goes on the tell us how to get it too!!
We have a more sure word of prophecy. That is, the Word of God.
Take heed to it! (Jesus said 'take heed how you hear')
"Wherefore you do well that you take heed as unto a light that shines in a dark place. (We all have 'dark places' in our lives, where the word of God hasn't lit up yet)
Until the DAY DAWN and the DAY STAR arise in your hearts.." This is the day of revelation, when the thing you have been giving heed to, dawns in your heart.
Know that no prophecy of the Scripture (the Word of God) is of any private interpretation (How many interpretations of the Word of God have we got out there?.. and why is this?)
So you take a 'dark area' in your life.. lets take healing for example. You 'give heed' to what the Word of God says about it, knowing that it was inspired by the Holy Spirit,
not man.. You chose to believe what God says, rather than the traditions of men. You start to sow the word in your heart by hearing and meditating upon it..
"My son, attend to my words, incline your ears to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes, keep them in the midst of your heart (why?) For they are LIFE to them that find
(grasp) them and health (medicine) to all your flesh" Prov4:24
You continue to do this and mix it with praise and thanksgiving until 'the light shines in your heart' and you 'see' what the Scripture means.
Here's an example;
You go out one evening for a walk in the woods. The birds are singing and life is good. You get caught up in it all and keep walking. Suddenly you are aware that the birds
have stopped singing and the light is fading! 'Where am I?' you think and start to head back the way you came but the light is fading fast now. You start to panic.
It's getting dark now and you're not sure of the way. You trip over tree roots and branches hit you in the face, as fear tries to grab you.. Then, suddenly, way off in the distance,
you catch a glimpse of a light between the trees. Hope arises! Your eyes fix on the light and you dare not blink in case it goes out! You then start to head towards the
light because where that light is, is safety! You trip and stumble but you keep heading towards that light! Then, after a little while, the words start to thin out and
then finally you are standing in a field and looking at the farmhouse on the other side of the valley. You head towards that house.. you are safe..
So you are trapped in the woods of sickness and disease. Men have said 'you will die' there is no hope, no cure. There words hit you like branches, you stumble and fear
grips your life. Then, you read a scripture, or some-one says to you that Jesus is the healer! "The entrance of Thy Word Lord, gives light" The Word of God brings hope
to you but faith is an act, so you 'act your faith' and head towards that 'hope' That light in the distance. You start to 'attend' to the Word of God as a light that shines
in a dark place. You don't take your eyes of it. You meditate upon it night and day. 'The sower sows the word.' Then after a while, things start to get better, the light is
getting brighter and closer.. You keep going (hope) and then suddenly, 'the day dawns and the day star arises in your heart' The day of revelation has arrived and Jesus
says "But who do YOU say that I am?" and you say "Jesus, YOU are my healer!" Flesh and blood did not reveal this too you and flesh and blood can't take it away from either!!
The things of God are revealed to the heart of man by the Holy Spirit.. Go and receive from His grace in Jesus name today.
God Bless
